Located in the central-west end of Toronto, just north of Bloor Street West, High Park has a rich neighbourhood history. It was formerly part of the Town of West To ronto Junction, which was subjoined by the City of Toronto in 1909. D.W. Clendenan House, which was originally built in 1888 for the first mayor of West Toronto Junction, is located at 191 High Park Avenue.

High Park's streets are lined with gorgeous Edwardian, Victorian and Tudor-style homes. The majority of these spacious houses were built during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Quite a few have been divided into multiple-family dwellings. While there is a wonderful selection of striking houses to choose from, within the last decade there has been the addition of several recently built and under construction condominium buildings in the area, including High Park Condominiums (completed in 2005), High Park Lofts (under construction), The Address at High Park (under construction), and Giraffe Condos (under construction).

High Park is within walking distance of one of Toronto's most popular shopping districts, Bloor West Village. The “village” is renowned for its cafes, restaurants, delis, bakeries and specialty food shops. The Junction, situated along Dundas Street West, is another wonderful shopping area close to High Park. This recently rejuvenated retail district features restaurants, cafes, and a variety of shops.

High Park, one of Toronto's largest parks, is the jewel of the neighborhood. It contains picnic grounds, a fishing pond, an outdoor theatre, animal paddocks, playgrounds, a restaurant, a historic museum, flower gardens, an adventure playground, a trackless train and eve n a zoo. Some of the animals in the High Park Zoo include bisons, deer, llamas, peacocks and highland cattle. T he park's sports facilities include swimming, skating, soccer, and lawn bowling. Walking, jogging, and cycling paths are located throughout the park.

There are two libraries in the neighborhood: the High Park Public Library on Roncesvilles and the Runnymede Public Library on Bloor Street.

St.Joseph’s Health Centre is a major hospital in the neighborhood. It is located at 30 The Queensway.

Runnymede, High Park and Keele subway stations serve the High Park area and are located on the Bloor-Danforth subway line.

High Park is about five minutes from the Queensway, which connects to the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore Boulevard.
