The scenic Mimico community has long been known as the gateway to Toronto's west-end waterfront neighbourhoods.

Long favoured as a summer destination for many of Toronto's wealthiest families (like the Loblaws), the area finally emerged as a year-round community in 1906, when the Grand Trunk Railway opened the Mimico Yard. A building boom soon followed in order to accomodate the railway workers and their families and Mimico was eventually incorporated as a Town in 1917.

Mimico is bordered on the north by Evans Avenue, Algoma Street and Manitoba Street and Lake Ontario on the south, Fleeceline Road and Louisa Street make up the east border with the western boundary formed by a line through Dwight Avenue (south of the railway) and St. George Street (north of the railway).

The Mimico neighbourhood is rich in both the old and new with large lots and mature trees forming lush landscapes for family homes. Newer condominiums and townhomes add a new vibrant lifestyle element that continues to highlight the electrifying nature of the community.

Mimico is well known for its sports clubs and recreational facilities and now hosts the new MasterCard Centre For Hockey Excellence. This world class, state-of-the-art, four ice-pad facility will be open 365 days a year from 7am untill Midnight. The facility will host the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies as well as Hockey Canada and the Hockey Hall of Fame’s research and archives division.

The Bloor-Danforth subway line is accessible by the Royal York bus while the Lake Shore Boulevard bus connects to Union station and the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Mimico has its own Go Transit train station located off Royal York Road.
